The old graveyard at Clonkeen is mentioned in the Griffiths Primary Valuation as being in the civil parish of Abbeyleix. It is marked on the current Discovery Series Ordnance Survey Map No. 60 as a 'church'. The church and graveyard lie in the middle of a field, the graveyard is totally overgrown and very few of the stones are legible. There are no gravestones in the body of the church which is completely covered with ivy. I am including all photographs taken at this site, few of these have been given names. The condition of this graveyard is similar to very many others around Laois and around the whole of Ireland
